RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent prepares and monitors the annual budget. Prevents budget overruns and keeps department personnel informed of available funds by maintaining records of all department expenditures and encumbrances. Special projects are routinely assigned that involve cost analysis and recommendations. Supervises staff by assigning general accounting functions, report preparation and maintenance of accurate records. The Business Manager will always demonstrate quality customer service to our partners, external and internal customers that promotes continuing economic development for the City. The various departments that utilize this position are : Economic Development, Recreation and Youth Services and Public Works. The current opening is in Public Works.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree in business, business administration, management science, finance, mathematics, marketing, accounting, economics, econometrics, public administration or a closely related field AND 4 years of experience in accounting, office management, business administration or a related field.

Associate degree in the above listed disciplines AND 6 years of experience in accounting, office management, business administration or a related field.

A Master's degree in Public Administration or Business Administration may be substituted for one year of experience. Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U. S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities or equivalent region. Must have a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain as a condition of employment.

Final permanent appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination, including drug screen, and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity.

Appointment to positions in this classification will require applicants to pass a police background investigation.
