NATURE OF WORK: Maintains district vehicles (buses/cars/vans) to operating excellence to ensure no problem or interruptions to the educational process. Must be able to repair electrical equipment, fuel injectors and pumps, rebuild engines, complete electrical systems, air and hydraulic brake systems, rebuild front and rear suspension, and replace all drive train components.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have 4 years of experience in heavy truck maintenance work including experience in diesel and gas engine management systems, anti-lock brakes systems, emission control systems and engine diagnostic equipment.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment. Must be able to obtain an Ohio Class A Commercial Driver's License (C.D.L.) with school bus and passenger endorsements within 120 days of appointment.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: IF HIRED, MUST PROVIDE OWN HAND TOOLS. Must be able to successfully pass an annual physical examination required by the Ohio Department of Transportation, lift a minimum of 75 pounds and be physically able to climb, stand, lift and bend for extended periods of time.

CITIZENSHIP: Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States at time of application.

MILITARY CREDIT: Open Competitive applicants who have had military service will receive an additional credit of 20% if a passing grade is attained. TO OBTAIN CREDIT, A NON-RETURNABLE COPY OF THE DD214 OR CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE (INDICATING HONORABLE DISCHARGE) MUST BE SUBMITTED AT TIME OF EXAMINATION.

NOTES: In the event of identical exam scores, the tie will be broken in favor of the candidate who received military credit. If a tie score still exists, the tie will be broken by a random selection method.

Examination dates and times are subject to change. Calculators will be provided for the Civil Service examination. Final appointment may be contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination, drug screen and/or police background investigation and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity. Applicants are responsible for providing all necessary employment dates, experience, training, or any other requirements as stated in the Exam Announcement, in order for their application to be considered for certification and admittance to the examination process.

In accordance with Civil Service Rule 8, Section 7B, this consecutive eligible list will become effective after the current eligible list, effective August 15, 2017, is exhausted of names or expires.
