NATURE OF WORK: Maintains, checks, troubleshoots, and repairs heating and air-conditioning components for the proper system operation, flow control, and balance by checking electronic controls, valves, actuators, condensers, coils, boilers, and energy management systems. Develops and implements a district wide preventative maintenance program.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Must have a 5 year apprenticeship of verifiable HVAC related work experience.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Formal technical training in the areas of controls, boilers and HVAC systems is desired. HVAC certification preferred.

CITIZENSHIP: Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States at time of application.

MILITARY CREDIT: Open Competitive applicants who have had military service will receive an additional credit of 20% if a passing grade is attained. TO OBTAIN CREDIT, A NON-RETURNABLE COPY OF THE DD214 OR CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE (INDICATING HONORABLE DISCHARGE) MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF EXAMINATION.

NOTES: In the event of identical exam scores, the tie will be broken in favor of the candidate who received military credit. If a tie score still exists, the tie will be broken by a random selection method.

Examination dates and times are subject to change. Calculators will be provided for the Civil Service examination. Final appointment may be contingent upon the applicants passing a job-related medical examination, drug screen and/or police background investigation and providing documentary evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity. Applicants are responsible for providing all necessary employment dates, experience, training, or any other requirements as stated in the Exam Announcement, in order for their application to be considered for certification and admittance to the examination process.

In accordance with Civil Service Rule 8, Section 7B, this consecutive eligible list will become effective after the current eligible list, effective November 2, 2017 is exhausted of names or expires.
